A Metabase alternative when the open-source edition runs out of permissions.
Metabase is a good way for a technical team to put charts on a database quickly. Teams look for an alternative when they need per-row permissions without moving to a higher tier, when non-technical readers need more than a question builder, or when the product has to reach people who read in Arabic.

Permissions on every plan
Row-level restrictions are the feature companies grow into first, and in many tools they sit in a paid tier. In Klayara row and column rules are included on every plan and hold in every download, report, embed and AI answer.
Readers who are not analysts
Klayara's dashboards are drag and drop with cross-filtering, drill-down and formulas that read like a spreadsheet; questions in plain language come back as charts.
Delivery beyond email
Scheduled PDFs and images to email, Slack, Telegram and WhatsApp, rendered per recipient.
Still self-hostable
Klayara runs on your own servers or in the cloud region you choose, with our support — the same product as the hosted cloud, no licence server, no call-home.

Who should stay on Metabase.
If Klayara is not the right fit, we say so. These teams are usually better served where they are.
- Teams whose analysts already have deep skills in it and whose reports are finished — a working tool is not a reason to migrate.
- Engineering teams that want a free, open-source charting layer on one database and are happy writing SQL.
- Teams whose needs are fully met by the open-source edition today.
Who chooses Klayara instead.
The cases where the difference is not a feature but a way of working.
- Groups that need one dashboard across several companies or branches with each reader limited to their own rows
- Companies that want the data to stay on their own servers or in the cloud region they choose
- Teams with no analyst that want the first dashboards built for them and handed over
- Businesses that read in Arabic and English on the same day
Metabase alternative questions, answered.
Something else on your mind? Ask us directly — a person answers.
Is Klayara open source?
No. Klayara is a commercial product that can be self-hosted with support. It has no licence server, no usage tracking and no call-home, so it runs on a closed network.
Do we lose self-hosting by moving?
No. Run Klayara in your cloud account, your data centre or a closed network. It is the same product as the hosted cloud.
Does Klayara need SQL?
No. Dashboards are built by drag and drop, measures with formulas that read like a spreadsheet, and questions can be asked in plain language. Analysts can still write SQL for derived tables where they want to.
How are permissions handled?
Row and column rules are set once per person or team and apply to every dashboard, download, scheduled report, embedded view and AI answer, on every plan.
