Business intelligence in Egypt
Egypt is the largest market in the Arab world by population and one of its most operationally demanding. Cairo and Giza hold the head offices, the new capital and the developers; Alexandria and the Canal cities hold the ports, plants and exporters; retail and FMCG distribution reaches every governorate. Business runs Sunday to Thursday in Egyptian pounds, with dollar-priced imports and a currency that moves — which makes pounds-and-dollars reporting a daily need. VAT is routine and electronic invoicing has been phased in over recent years, so transaction data is far more complete than it was. Arabic is the language of the business; English is the language of most software and of the many companies with Gulf or international owners.
Egyptian teams ask for an interface that reads properly in Arabic, right to left, so the general manager and the branch heads use the same dashboard as the finance team. They ask for figures in pounds with the dollar view beside them, for reports on the Sunday-to-Thursday week delivered by WhatsApp, and for branch- and distributor-level permissions. Groups with Gulf owners ask for a consolidated view in the parent's currency. With analysts scarce and budgets tight, many ask for the dashboards to be built for them and for a price that lets every branch manager have a login — see how plans work.
We see manufacturing and exporters, real-estate developers, retail and distribution, hotels and tourism and financial services most often. For the wider region, read business intelligence in the Gulf.
