An AI data analyst is software that does the first draft of an analyst’s routine work. Ask “which products lost margin last quarter?” and it returns a chart. Describe “a sales overview for the regional managers” and it drafts a dashboard. Point it at a dip in a KPI and it explains which region, product or customer moved. It writes the formula for a new calculated column, or the query a technical colleague would otherwise write by hand.
It matters because the queue of small questions never shrinks. In most companies one or two people “do the reports”, and every one-off request waits behind the monthly pack. An AI data analyst clears the simple ones in seconds, so the human analyst spends time on the questions that need judgement — and managers stop waiting days for a number.
It is not a replacement for definitions or for checking. A sound AI analyst uses the company’s own saved metrics and synonyms, so “turnover” means what finance means by revenue; it sees only what the person asking is allowed to see; and everything it makes is a draft that someone reviews and saves. Rule of thumb: if an answer is a paragraph with numbers in it rather than a chart you can open, treat it as a guess.
In Klayara, Klayara AI on the Growth and Enterprise plans plays this role: ask your data for a real chart, describe a chart or a whole dashboard, ask “Why did this change?”, and get help with formulas and queries. It runs only when you click, usually for 1 credit. See Klayara AI.
