Generative BI

Generative BI is business intelligence where AI drafts the work, such as charts, dashboards, formulas, queries and summaries, for a person to review and keep.

Generative BI is business intelligence in which AI drafts the work that people used to build by hand. Describe a chart and get one; describe a dashboard and get a first version with charts, filters and layout; describe a calculation and get the formula; ask why a figure moved and get an explanation in plain words. The person stays the editor: the AI produces a draft, and somebody decides whether it is right.

It matters because most of the time in BI goes on assembly, not insight. A finance analyst building a monthly pack spends hours picking chart types, writing formulas and tidying layout before anyone reads a number. Generative BI turns that first hour into a minute and leaves the analyst checking and refining, which is the part that needs a human.

The trap is treating a draft as an answer. A generated chart can pick the wrong measure, and a generated summary can sound confident about the wrong period. Three habits keep generative BI safe: the AI should use the same governed definitions and permissions as the rest of the tool, its output should be an ordinary chart or formula a person can inspect, and nothing should be saved or sent until someone saves it. A fourth habit keeps it affordable: the AI should run only when someone asks.

In Klayara, generative BI covers describing charts and whole dashboards, the formula assistant, dashboard summaries and the query assistant. Every result is a draft, and the AI runs only when someone clicks.

Definitions are easier on your own numbers.
