Business intelligence in India
India's mid-market is large, fast-growing and spread out. A manufacturer in Pune sells through hundreds of dealers; an NBFC in Mumbai runs branches in twelve states; an education group in Hyderabad has forty campuses; a services firm in Bengaluru bills clients in three currencies. Business runs in English with Hindi and regional languages on the ground, the financial year runs April to March, monthly GST returns and electronic invoicing have made transaction data far more complete than it was, and figures are read in lakhs and crores. The working week is Monday to Friday in offices and often Monday to Saturday in plants and branches.
Indian teams ask for reach and speed. They want dealer, branch and campus views where each manager sees only their own numbers and head office sees the league table. They want the daily sales flash on WhatsApp by 9am, because that is where the branch manager is. Financial firms ask that data stay in India, which Klayara handles by running on your own servers or in the cloud region you choose — see self-hosting. And with analysts expensive to hire and keep, many ask us to build the first dashboards for them.
We see manufacturing, IT and professional services, education, NBFCs and financial services and retail and distribution most often. Most of them keep the books in Tally, Busy, Marg, Zoho Books or SAP Business One and build the monthly MIS in Excel; Klayara replaces that Excel step with a live MIS — see dashboards on Tally, MIS reporting and the guide from Tally to a live MIS. For weekly and monthly packs, see scheduled reports.
